Obtaining Eisenhower Funds to Support Your Graduate Coursework

If you'd like to ask for school district Eisenhower or other funds, we suggest
that you download the designation of our program as Exemplary Science, from
the U.S. Dept. of Education Expert Panel website. Give it to your principal.

Agency might be more restrictive than the Federal guidelines.)
How district (LEA) Eisenhower funds can be used
A summary from pages 20-21 of the Federal Eisenhower Professional Development
Guidelines (obtainable from the State Departments of Education, as well as from
the US Dept.of Education web page):
Allowable LEA program expenditures include
- Incentives for teacher professional development, such as "the provision
for substitutes, travel expenses, and stipends for non-contract days"
- "Computers - An LEA may use Eisenhower funds to purchase computers or other
telecommunication equipment NECESSARY to support the professional development
activities of its teachers and other personnel.")
- "Materials - Eisenhower Program funds may be used to purchase supplies and
materials that are necessary to conduct training activities."
- "Advanced Degrees - An LEA may use Title II funds to support teachers earning
advanced degrees. In doing so, an LEA may pay for the necessary expenses provided
that the training is designed to improve the teachers' classroom instruction,
and that their participation in the course(s) is consistent with the LEA's
overall plan for professional development."
- "Activities Sponsored by Professional Organizations - If participation in
professional development sponsored by professional organizations is part of
the local plan, then an LEA may use Eisenhower funds to pay expenses such
as attendance, fees, or memberships associated with that activity."
