APPLICATION
FOR FINANCIAL ASSISTANCE
High school teacher:
Since you'd like to take a
Modeling Workshop or other PHS graduate course offered by Arizona State
University in summer 2005, please answer the questions below. We have National
Science Foundation funds for teacher support (our last year). For
out-of-town teachers: we provide stipends ($20/day to cover meals & up
to $300 toward travel, depending on how far away you live & what the cost
of sale airfare is), free apartment or dorm housing (private room & shared
bath), and some free tuition. (Note: teachers can take courses FREE for no
credit.) Teachers need to pay for Arnold Arons' text, which costs $40 at the
ASU bookstore. Our goal is for each teacher to break even if they live
economically. You could probably eat for $15/day, if you buy groceries &
cook; otherwise, $20/day for cafeteria meals. We have good housing for families
who drive here, too. For commuters: we reimburse $600 for tuition for
each 3-credit PHS course ($800 for a 4-credit course). ASU tuition is $264 per
credit.
Sincerely,
